Gambling Bonus Wagering Requirements
How to calculate required turnover and identify the terms that most affect whether a bonus has practical value.
A wagering requirement is the amount of qualifying betting activity required before bonus-related funds or winnings become withdrawable under the promotion rules.
The base matters
A 20× bonus-only requirement on a $100 bonus creates $2,000 of required wagering. A 20× deposit-plus-bonus requirement on a $100 deposit and $100 bonus creates $4,000.
Game contribution
If a game contributes only 10%, then $100 of betting may count as just $10 toward the requirement.
Maximum bet rules
Promotions may cap the amount that can be wagered per game round while bonus conditions apply. Exceeding the cap can affect eligibility under the terms.
Expiry and withdrawal conditions
Time limits, eligible payment methods, excluded games, maximum cashout provisions and identity verification can all matter.
Value is not the headline amount
A bonus should be evaluated as a conditional offer whose value depends on expected game cost, wagering volume, restrictions and the player’s willingness to accept those conditions.
Translate contribution into actual action
If $2,000 of credited wagering is required and the chosen game contributes 25%, completing the requirement would require $8,000 of actual qualifying action under a simple contribution model. This is why contribution belongs in the denominator.
Expected cost is only one layer
Theoretical game cost does not capture variance, max-bet breaches, excluded games, expiry, withdrawal caps or the possibility that the player stops before completing the requirement. Model output should therefore not be presented as guaranteed bonus profit.
Use the worked scenarios
The bonus-cost dataset includes scenarios that hold some inputs constant while changing requirement base or contribution rate, making the arithmetic auditable.
