How Sports Bets Are Settled: Wins, Losses, Pushes & Voids
Examples of how winning, losing, pushed and voided sports bets are commonly settled, including what happens inside parlays.
A win returns stake plus profit, a loss loses the stake, and a push or void commonly returns the stake—but operator rules control edge cases.
Why settlement comes first
You cannot calculate the value of a bet correctly until you know what outcomes count as a win, loss, push, void or partial settlement.
Pushes in plain English
A common push treatment returns the original stake, producing zero profit and zero loss. That does not mean every market or promotion treats pushes identically.
Voids and parlays
A void single wager often returns stake, while a void parlay leg may cause the remaining legs to be recalculated. Dead heats, abandoned events, overtime and player-prop rules can be more complicated.
