Ontario iGaming Advertising Rules
A player-facing explanation of Ontario’s restrictions on inducement advertising and marketing that appeals to minors.
Ontario’s regulated iGaming advertising rules are designed to reduce potentially harmful promotion. Broad public advertising of bonuses, credits and other gambling inducements is prohibited, and restrictions also apply to people likely to appeal to minors.
Bonus/inducement advertising
AGCO reporting states that Ontario prohibits broad public advertising of bonuses, credits and other gambling inducements.
Athletes and youth appeal
Since February 28, 2024, Ontario prohibits athletes and individuals who would likely be expected to appeal to minors in iGaming advertising except for the exclusive purpose of advocating responsible gambling practices.
What this does not mean
A restriction on broad public advertising is not the same as a total prohibition on every bonus. Offer availability and permitted direct communication depend on the applicable standards and operator relationship.
Player takeaway
Do not infer that a promotion is regulator-approved simply because you saw it in an ad. Evaluate the operator authorization and the actual terms separately.
Why rules can change
Advertising standards are actively supervised and can be amended. This page should be reverified against current AGCO standards before major updates or commercial use.
