How Ontario Online Gambling Authorization Works
The difference between AGCO registration, iGaming Ontario operating agreements, OLG.ca and a gambling site merely claiming to be licensed elsewhere.
For private operators in Ontario’s competitive regulated market, authorization is a two-part framework: AGCO registration plus an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. OLG.ca is a separate legal provincial operator.
AGCO role
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario registers and regulates internet-gaming operators and suppliers and enforces the Registrar’s Standards.
iGaming Ontario role
iGaming Ontario conducts and manages the competitive iGaming market and contracts with private operators that act as agents in the provincial framework.
OLG.ca
iGaming Ontario’s operator directory notes that OLG.ca is legally operated under the conduct and management of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.
What a player should verify
Do not stop at an operator’s own footer badge. Confirm the exact site in iGaming Ontario’s current regulated-site directory.
Why foreign licensing is not enough
A licence or registration in another jurisdiction does not by itself establish that a site participates in Ontario’s regulated market.
