Ontario regulated online gambling is 19+. For regulated private-operator sites, the player must also be physically located in Ontario when gambling.
Age
iGaming Ontario states that regulated iGaming is for players aged 19 and older.
Physical location
Players must be physically located in Ontario to play on regulated operator sites. This is why geolocation controls are part of the eligibility system.
Residency and location are different
A person’s home address and their physical location at the time of play are different concepts. The market’s play requirement focuses on physical presence in Ontario.
Account controls
Operators use eligibility, identity and geolocation controls to support compliance. Failures in self-exclusion, geolocation and other KYC controls are reportable compliance incidents under AGCO’s notification framework.
