Baccarat Commission vs Commission-Free
Why “no commission” does not mean the Banker bet simply pays full even money with no trade-off.
Traditional baccarat balances Banker’s higher win probability by paying winning Banker bets 0.95:1. Commission-free variants usually change the payout on a specific Banker result or add another rule; they must be analyzed by exact paytable.
Traditional commission
A $100 winning Banker bet commonly earns $95 profit. This creates a standard eight-deck Banker house edge of about 1.06%.
Commission-free trade-offs
A common family of variants reduces the payout when Banker wins with a particular total such as 6. Other variants use different exception rules. “No commission” is therefore not a complete mathematical description.
Compare exact events
To analyze a variant, identify every Banker winning event and its payout. A different exception frequency can materially alter expected return.
Do not transfer strategy claims
Standard Banker/Player edge figures should not be pasted onto commission-free games unless the paytable matches the standard game.
